Mr. Gianfranco Ceccolini @gianfranco,
When I posted about my decision to not buy a Mod DuoX days ago, I mentioned there were some issues with the company I could perceive but chose to not dwell into that in my post. In light of your responses here and elsewhere, in particular your interaction with @funkypou above, I will go into just one of the things that are blatantly obvious for someone digging into this forum: most of you at Mod Devices (yourself included) are unable to deal with criticism, whether or not itās justified or worded with care.
@James has responded above to accusations of the same caliber as the oneās levied by another forum member without acting like heās personally attacked. No mea culpa is given, but he was mature and elegant in his response. You instead spat a series fo numbers that, despite your many claims of transparency, nobody knew and could not imagine. You gave away in your answers that you have delivered less than half of the units pledged (shipping āover 500ā and having about 1100 pledged.) Yet, with all the explanations offered and even āsincereā apologies, you have taken it personally to people who pointed fingers at you.
Thatās the all-telling sign of a poor, immature management.
In many other posts, I could see members of the Mod team also sparring with users, saying they were annoyed to answer the same question for the hundredth time. Without offering an apology to why that question is being asked in the first place: YOUR delays and YOUR missed deadlines and goals.
I decided to not acquire the DuoX I had in my hands at a good price (500 Euro) because one of you gave away the dire financial situation you were in, and Iām not talking about your update post of 2 months ago. You simply do not have a management oversight over those things, and itās easy to see that the capo (that is: you) is as combative and refractory to criticism, so the team follows through.
I mentioned the āopen sourceā situation in my earlier post not because I donāt like it. Iāve been in the open source/free software arena since the 1990s and am personally acquainted with Richard Stallman. So I need no lectures on Open Source. What I can tell is that āstartupā and āopen sourceā together are commonly seen as a liability in the investment world. And youāre proving me right.
You have a new ācampaignā in place, passing the hat even to forum members. Looking at your fundraising documents it looks like youāre begging for a saviour to help you make the world a better place because you donāt want to have ābad karmaā hanging over your head, instead of presenting a clear business plan. Your company didnāt start in 2020, Mr. Ceccolini. Yet, looks like you have never turned a profit. I know, the pandemic was bad, but your management skills do not look good either.
I sincerely hope your reboot plans go well and that youāre able to rescue your vision and platform, even if by selling the IP you have in hand to more mature, market-oriented hands.
At this time, however, I bid farewell to this forum and community with a deep sigh or relief for not acquiring a Mod just a week ago.
Sincerely wising the best for your success,
Michael
Over and out.
