Web interface...without internet?

So…this is probably a dumb question…

Is there a plan to make the web interface into a stand alone program That doesn’t need an internet connection? The only reason I ask is due to the fact one might be playing out somewhere and want to make a change to their pedalboard, but in a setting where there is no wifi?

Thanks for the DUO!

Well

Actually it is already like that. The webserver is inside the Duo :wink:

The wi-fi connection is only required when you want to download a plugin, share or try a pedalboard.

The connection to the Duo is totally independent of an internet access :slight_smile:

What?!?!?!

Ok, I feel silly now. At least this will be an answer to the question if anybody else tries to look it up on the forum.

I’ve only been at my home with it so far. I’ll now try it with my computer’s wifi shut off!

Aren’t the only network interfaces usb and bluetooth? There is no wiifi in the modduo itself as far as I know. If the modduo has wifi capability I’ve missed it.

MOD can expose its “network” via USB and bluetooth, not wifi. That’s correct.

When using a computer you can use the wifi to transfer contents from the internet into the MOD.
That’s how updates and plugins are installed.
It’s something like:

Wifi/Ethernet => Web browser => MOD “ethernet” => MOD

I put MOD “ethernet” in quotes because it doesn’t really expose an internet connection, just a way to access a local page inside of it.

The important piece that hasn’t been said yet, but is quite obvious is that when you open the browser and access http://modduo.local (or http://192.168.51.1) the UI you see is being transferred over the USB cable (or Bluetooth in case you’re using a dongle).

Wifi will only be used (as it has already been explained) when internet is required which is when you install new plugins or try to publish a PB.

curious: 192.168.51.1 works for me, but modduo.local doesn’t. i get this:

This site can’t be reached
modduo.local’s server DNS address could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

i’m on ubuntu w. the chromium browser, connected via USB. i cleared my browser cache.
my Duo is on the latest 1.3.0 testing version.

any clues?

You have to have Zeroconf properly configured in your OS.

More details => https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToZeroconf

I had to point my dns in my router to let it know. the web name modduo.local refered to the address set in the driver.
192.168.51.1 would not work in my system.
I had set the address to reside inside the 255 address allowed for 192.168.0.1.
This means I set the duos address to 192.168.0.51 instead.

Now 192.168.0.51 points to modduo.local in my router & my windows RNDIS driver address is set to the same 192.168.0.51 number.
This means my router & local addressing are in the same namespace and works great
